Yes you read it right, Hamleys the Toy store in Regents Street, London is having some evenings in the run up to christmas with Live animals in-store. Ok, it’s better to have these animals LIVE than another other way but is this necessary ?
What is the purpose ? To introduce these lovely creatures to children ? To make them aware they exist ? Or is it to line their pockets with profits so when the kids leave the ‘Deers’ or ‘Penguins’ area, I bet you bucks there will be toy deers and penguins ready for the kids to say ‘Mummy Daddy I want one’. Will the mum and dad like to see their child throw a tantrum. I guess not. If you want your kids to experience these beautiful creatures go to wild park or richmond park (for deers) where they wander naturally. Ok you child CANNOT touch these animals but they are not meant to be touched. Humans carry a variety of germs which can be dangerous to animals, especially during this time of year.
So if anyone is listening out there PLEASE DO NOT VISIT HAMLEYS on these dates. Lets not encourage business to profit from these kinds of acts. Forget the profits, but do they realise the stress and trauma these poor creatures will go thru ?
a) Caged during transportation b) Arrive in Regent Street – busiest shopping street during their busiest time of year! c) Stay huddles whilst they prepare your temporary ‘home’ d) Be placed into your temp home for a short period of time e) Have strangers with all kinds of diseases or virus touch the poor animals f) Continuously on show for up to 4-5 hrs g) Await to be transported back home! h) Duration of travel!
Are are these idiots who think of these ideas ? Is it because you too get paid ? Think about your actions not just your pockets.

Take a trip to Hamleys after school on Monday 6th December to visit our real life Penguin pool! Penguins, their habitat and what they like to eat! You will be able to see the penguins swim, interact with their friends and be fed at tea time! The penguins will be waddling into store from 4 – 8PM on December 6th.
This fantastic event is free of charge! Please note that all children must be supervised at all times.
