Palm Trees, where once there were tall trees, part of a rain forest where many animals, native to Borneo, lived. Now, if you are seen in such a plantation, be prepared to die. Animals are not allowed. You see life does not matter since these trees produce more money per acre than any other plantation like rapeseed or linseed. This area most likely provided home to Pgymy Elephants, Proboscis Monkies, Borneo Elephants, Borneo Rhinos, Clouded Leopards, Long Tailed Macaques, Gibbons, Sun Bears to name a few and not forgetting our close relative, the Orangutan. I haven’t even listed birds and other creatures than once called this home.
Be sure to check what you purchase when you next go shopping from margarine to soap, from bread to biscuits.
Who are we to destroy their home, is it because they have no voice ?
If an Orangutan Charity wanted to purchase the land below, it would costs hundreds of dollars. If a palm oil plantation wanted to purchase the land, it would cost $50 p//ha. Since the government will earn more revenue from these plantations, this is their preference. Money Talks!
